College Re-Creation

Hey guys - so I found an old college sweatshirt that I had cast off.. I think it had shrunk and just wasn't too cute aymore. I decided to try and salavage it, and make it into something wearable again. And if all else failed, it could become the front of a pillow, or dust rag.

So I began by cutting off the bottom, neck, and sleeves.
I turned it inside out and took it in to make it a bit more fitted. I sewed all the way up, leaving just enough room for armholes. I didn't finish off the bottom just because I wanted that "comfy" look, but you can do whatever you want!

And tadah!!! pretty cute, huh?

Then I thought.. what can i do with all these scraps? So I took the arms of the sweatshirt that I had cut off and turned them into cute winter arm mits. Here's how. I put my arm through and made a slit for my thumb.
Then I cut along the seam to open it up.

I layed my arm in it just to get a guesstimate how how much I could cut off. Then, i turned it inside out and sewed it shut.

And there you have it! Cute, comfy, arm mits for cold days! (Perfect for when your hands are cold, but you still need to type of the computer.) And yes, I am wearing shorts in this pic.

Spice Up Your Stationary!

Here is a card and envelope I made for my friend who in the middle of taking tests. Creating your own stationary is EASY! All you need is some scrapbooking paper, glitter, ribbon, glue, etc. The back of the card is the hot pink paper and an excellent space for your personal note. I decided to add the ribbon to the card so she could hang it in a place where she could see it - and be reminded of the good thoughts coming her way.

To make the envelope I simply opened up an old envelope I had laying around to use as the template. Trace and cut using a fun piece of scrapbook paper and fold the sides (follow how the original envelope was folded) Hot glue and you're done! I glued a tag on the front and covered the small hole with a heart sticker (which was done after I took these photos). I closed the flap of the envelope with a sticky label and included my return address.
